In Booth #5161, Sign Expo attendees will have an opportunity to "test drive" the new 126-inch-wide Durst Rho 320R Large-Format UV Inkjet Roll Printer?the Digital Printing & Imaging Association "Product of the Year" for 2008. Durst's VOC-free UV inks and the award-winning, 98-inch-wide Durst Rho 800 Presto Large-Format UV Inkjet Flatbed Printer also will be on display. These quality devices deliver an astounding array of benchmark commercial display imaging solutions based on world-class digital and process technologies, Durst said.
"We'll be at the ISA Sign Expo to demonstrate the industry's best options in terms of image quality, productivity, versatility and workflow for a wide variety of roll and rigid print applications," said Christopher Howard, senior vice president of sales & marketing for Durst US. "We have the ability to print on an unmatched range of media and surfaces, using more combinations of inks, at the highest quality, and at production speeds. For anybody who takes the time to visit the Durst booth, it will be more than worth the effort."
The most demanding, profitable imaging applications?such as light box displays, illuminated posters, window graphics, POP displays and advertising textiles?can be executed successfully on the Rho 320R. It prints on a wide range of coated and uncoated media up to 10.5 feet wide at speeds up to 1,440 sqft/hr. But what sets the printer apart is its ability to output smooth, detailed, color-accurate images?even at production settings. For example, in its two-pass mode, DPI's Product of the Year delivers exceptional images that can stand up to the closest inspection at a reliable 710 sqft/hr, Durst said.
An important component in the overall quality standard set by the Rho 320R is its environmentally friendly, VOC-free, low-odor Rho Roll Ink, which offers excellent adhesion, flexibility and color density, plus a wide color gamut. Options include a high-productivity media-handling accessory for printing two rolls up to 62 inches side by side, and a media-tracking apparatus for perfectly registering double-sided printing.
The Rho 800 Presto, voted the "Top Flatbed Printer" for 2008 by the readers of Wide-Format Imaging magazine, features continuous board printing for unprecedented productivity. Materials are registered at the leading edge using mechanical front stops. The transport system positions the next series of boards against the first, ensuring high-production printing without interruption. Durst's flagship flatbed UV inkjet printer also can print on multiple narrow boards across its full 98-inch width on materials up to 2.75 inches thick, at a top speed of 1,200 sf/hr. In productive two-pass mode, the Rho 800 Presto delivers high image quality at 624 square feet per hour.
The Rho 800 Presto also is compatible with Durst's roll feed / take-up accessory?designed for long runs and fast media changes?for added versatility. It handles oversized rolls of up to 440 pounds (200kg) with a diameter up to 12 inches (30cm) and a width up to 80 inches (200cm).
