Durst has introduced the versatile Rho 1000 UV inkjet printer at the FESPA commercial imaging trade show in Amsterdam, flagship of an entirely new generation of wide-format UV inkjet printers that feature production capabilities at image quality levels previously unattainable from any commercial digital imaging platform.
Two decisive factors are behind Durst's achievement, the company said: dramatic advancements in Durst's Quadro 30D Array print head technology, and also in its workflow systems and configurations. The result is unprecedented speed, image quality, cost-efficiency and versatility. In addition to typical stand-alone digital applications, the capabilities of the Rho 1000 make it highly suitable for integration into screen and offset printing workflows, in which its high-speed, full-color printing becomes one step in the process, Durst said.
The industrial-grade Rho 1000, which also emphasizes flexibility and versatility, can efficiently transport and print on a remarkably wide variety of sheet, heavy rigid and roll media. The latest iteration of Durst's Quadro 30D Array print head technology doubles the number of nozzles per color to 2,048, regulates ink temperature at the nozzle, and incorporates proprietary Point Drop Setting ink regulation to deliver exceptional image quality at high speed, Durst said.
Because workflow efficiency also is critical to successful printing, the Rho 1000 features an intuitive user-interface software that makes it easy to set and store job-specific parameters. The printer requires very little set-up time and no masking. And it can operate in a continuous-feed workflow that eliminates load/unload delays between sheets?similar to screen or offset printing methods and other systems designed for optimal integration and productivity. The Rho 1000 is capable of printing more than 200 4x8-foot sheets or boards per hour, Durst said.
"The Rho 1000 represents nothing less than the new global standard for large-format production digital printing, in terms of productivity, efficiency and image quality," said Christopher Howard, senior vice president of sales & marketing for Durst US. "We briefed several of our key clients about our new printers at ISA Sign Expo last month and every one called the Rho 1000 platform a 'game changer' that can transform their printing operations and allow them to compete in new market spaces."
Howard added that Durst will conduct customer "demos" over several weeks starting in June at its manufacturing facility in Lienz, Austria. Interested companies in the US and Canada should contact Durst US at 585/486-0340, ext. 5270. Durst also intends to exhibit the Rho 800HS in the US at the SGIA trade show, Oct. 7-9 in New Orleans.
