Markzware has released an upgrade to its highly recommended utility, MarkzTools v8 for QuarkXPress 8. MarkzTools is an XTension that is used to prevent corrupted QuarkXPress documents, along with several other useful features.
"MarkzTools is an easy-to-use XTension that delivers outstanding results preserving intellectual property investment, by enabling easy version conversion, salvaging corrupted files and reducing costs re-creating content. These benefits have a dramatic and positive impact on day-to-day productivity," said Mary Gay Marchese, director of public relations, Markzware. Marchese continues, "MarkzTools is a time saver when the need arises and you need to rescue a corrupted document. It really is a no-brainer to have this in your tool kit."
MarkzTools allows users to automatically verify saved Quark documents, so users will immediately know the file is safe. Furthermore, with the MarkzTools special temp file, users can more easily recover documents that have become corrupted during a save operation. In the case of a badly corrupted file where the page layout data cannot be salvaged, the Scavenge Text feature may be able to extract text stories from the damaged document.
The Gray Previews feature allows users to convert your full color picture previews into gray-scale previews; greatly reducing the file size of saved documents. MarkzTools 8 can also convert saved documents to Quark 6 or Quark 4 or allow Quark 8 to export open documents to those versions directly.
