2009 Users Organization Conference

Dalim Software CEO Carol Werlé used the recently concluded US Dalim Software Users Organization (DUO) meeting, held March 10-13 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, in New Orleans to present the membership with its 2009 roadmap for new solutions, based on its new ES core technology, for the next generation of its product lines. The conference agenda balances commercial information with technical updates. Over two days, the conference will provide a wealth of informative insight aimed at helping delegates make the right decisions to build business and drive profitability. During the meetings, Stephen White, specialist, Integrated Manufacturing at Vertis Communications, and Rob Pepe, director of manufacturing at thelab, were appointed president and vice president of DUO respectively.

DUO provides an unbiased collaborative channel of communications between Dalim Software users, Dalim Software staff, as well as authorized resellers, where ideas and knowledge are freely exchanged for the benefit of everyone. The organization establishes and expands the general and advanced technical understanding of Dalim Software products, learns of new product and service developments, suggests enhancements, and provides both the membership and Dalim Software a means of direct inter-communication.

A highlight of the meeting was a presentation by Werlé of the company's roadmap, including an overview of the company's new ES core technology, which includes an ES Core Engine mapping and coordinating all Dalim Software components to functional departments in a print or publishing organization. New versions of the Dalim Software solutions will be phased in over the next two years, beginning with DiALOGUE ES, followed by TWiST ES in late 2009 and MiSTRAL ES in 2010. The ES versions will have improvements in areas of job structure, Web interface and job processing.

Dov Isaacs, principal scientist at Adobe Systems Inc., whose responsibilities include those for workflow and product interoperability issues associated with print publishing workflow products-and who serves as the "spiritual venture capitalist" for the Adobe(r) PDF Print Engine technology-talked in the conference's premier presentation about how inconsistencies in PDF files and the print production workflow can be avoided by utilizing the Adobe(r) PDF Print Engine. The Adobe Compliancy Package will be embedded in both DALiM TWiST and DALiM DiALOGUE in 2009.

Victor Asseiceiro, GMG technical specialist, Business Development, delivered a presentation about GMG Connect and JDF implementations of GMG color management and proofing solutions within Dalim Software production automation workflow. Using GMG Connect, a seamless handshake allows companies to use GMG color management applications 'within' DALiM TWiST.

Other presentations included: A Dalim Software technology update, reviewing the status of Dalim Software solutions and technologies, including DALiM ViRTUAL LiBRARY, DALiM MiSTRAL, DALiM PRiNTEMPO and DALiM DiALOGUE and DALiM TWiST, JDF implementation, breakout sessions providing introductory and advanced group discussions of DALiM TWiST production automation software, a demonstration of the future of ES technology, as it will be implemented in DALiM DiALOGUE and DALiM MiSTRAL, running Dalim Software solutions using VMWare, a technology presentation of tips and tricks for more effective use of Dalim Software products, a popular session for attendees every year, 'Ask the engineers', an open discussion between users and Dalim Software engineers about the use, implementation and future development of Dalim Software solutions.
