At Print 09, Presstek will be demonstrating Presstek DI digital offset presses in a number of configurations, a range of Presstek chemistry-free CTP solutions, and a robust offering of digital workflow choices.
Presstek Solutions at Print 09
Presstek DI Digital Offset Presses offer printers the most profitable solution for meeting the demand for quick turnaround, high quality color printing in runs from 500 to 20,000. Capable of printing on a broad range of substrates from .0024? to .02? (0.06 mm to 0.5 mm) thick, the DI supports up to 300 lpi (120 l/cm) and FM screening without incurring additional time or expense. These highly automated DI presses combine the ease-of-use of digital printing with the versatility, performance and high quality of offset printing. The Presstek 52DI, a 52cm landscape format press, has a maximum sheet size of 20.47? x 14.17? (520 x 375 mm) and produces up to 20,000 letter-size pages per hour. The Presstek 34DI, a 34cm portrait format press, has a maximum sheet size of 13.39? x 18.11? (340 x 460 mm) and produces up to 14,000 letter-size pages an hour. Presstek DI presses are also available with a UV printing option and can be bundled with the Konica Minolta C6501 digital color press.
Presstek 52DI-AC, a new 52DI digital offset press with an integrated aqueous coater will be introduced at Print 09. The Presstek 52DI-AC press combines the power of high quality short-run, cost-effective color with the speed, durability and visual appeal of aqueous coating. Presstek 52DI-AC supports both flood and spot aqueous coating, which opens up new applications and service opportunities for both commercial and packaging print service providers. The 52DI-AC reduces overall cycle time, and the quick-drying coatings speed the delivery of superior quality printing on a wide range of substrates. The Presstek 52DI-AC will be available for order taking at Print 09 with delivery in 2010.
Presstek 52DI-UV Digital Offset Press dramatically expands the range of applications that can be addressed; making it easier for service providers to differentiate their businesses, whether it is general commercial work, small format packaging, tags and labels, or point-of-purchase materials. UV waterless inks dry instantly for immediate work and turn, or for quick transfer to finishing operations. Superior quality printing is achieved on uncoated stock and non-porous substrates such as foils, plastics and magnetic media. Presstek will be accepting orders for 52DI-UV and 34DI-UV presses at Print 09, and Presstek 52DI and 34DI digital offset presses are field upgradable to the UV version; combining the benefits of UV printing with the superior quality of DI printing on a wider range of substrates.
Presstek DI Press and Konica Minolta C6501 Bundle Option makes the bizhub PRO C6501 digital color printer available as an optional bundled solution with Presstek DI presses. This combination offers the most cost-effective means of producing a wide range of applications, such as personalized print and ultra-short-run versioned documents for integrated marketing initiatives, including direct mail.

Presstek Compass Series CTP Platesetters are highly automated, open platform 4-page and 8-page platesetters, which support up to 250 lpi printing with production speeds ranging from 15 to 38 plates per hour. Compass platesetters image Presstek Aurora Pro and Anthem Pro chemistry-free plates, as well as other third-party low energy thermal plates.
Presstek Aurora Pro Chemistry-Free Plates are true chemistry-free open platform daylight-safe metal plates that can be imaged on a range of thermal platesetters, including Presstek?s Compass, Dimension Pro and models distributed by Screen and Kodak (Creo). Aurora Pro plates are rated up to 25,000 impressions and have strong resistance to UV inks and solvents.
Presstek Anthem Pro Plates combine with Presstek Compass and Dimension Pro platesetters to deliver a chemistry-free platemaking solution. The plates are 100% daylight safe and do not require any gumming, baking or chemical processing. Only a simple water wash is required prior to mounting on press. Anthem Pro plates deliver excellent on-press performance, have strong resistance to UV inks and solvents, and support run lengths up to 100,000 impressions.
Presstek Dimension Series Platesetters are available in 4-page and 8-page format sizes. At Print 09, Presstek will be featuring the Presstek Dimension450 Excel-Autoloader and Dimension Pro 800 platesetters. Presstek?s Dimension450 Excel-Autoloader has a cost-effective, automated plate loader that is fully integrated with the Dimension450 Excel four-page thermal CTP platesetter system. Mounting up to 20 pre-punched Presstek Anthem Pro chemistry-free plates for continuous operation, the Autoloader enhances imaging productivity, allowing continuous chemistry-free platemaking at a throughput speed of 17 plates per hour. Presstek Dimension Pro 800 Platesetter, the latest addition to the Dimension line, is an 8-page CTP system that supports up to 2400 dpi at 200 lpi on Presstek?s Aurora Pro and Anthem Pro chemistry-free plates. The Digital PlateMaster 34 SC/HSC is an easy-to-use, high-resolution polyester platesetter designed for use with small-format portrait presses. This affordable direct-to-plate solution features a fully integrated Presstek Momentum RIP and internal plate processor.
