Just as Alcan Composites has gathered a pantheon of mythological gods to lead its Legends of Mythology marketing communications campaign to inspire epic graphic design, it has enlisted titans of the digital printing industry in a crusade to demonstrate its products with the latest technology at the ISA International Sign Expo 2010 April 8-10 in Orlando, FL.
ISA show-goers embarked upon a quest of knowledge from these printing titans as they traversed the trade show floor, where they discovered printed and finished samples of each of Alcan Composites' graphic display boards, including: Omni-Flute, Fome-Cor, Sintra, Gator, and Dibond.
"This ISA Legends of Mythology knowledge quest provides the perfect opportunity to educate customers about how well Alcan Composites' graphic display boards work with the latest digital printing and cutting/finishing technologies," said Joseph N. Masters, marketing manager, graphic display, Alcan Composites. "Nine leading printing and finishing manufacturers will be demonstrating their technologies with our products, allowing ISA attendees to see first-hand how well these substrates can be put into action when creating epic graphic designs. Copies of our Legends of Mythology advertisements will be printed and finished on the corresponding graphic display boards that they represent."
Alcan Composites' marketing communications campaign features bold images of mythological gods—including Mercury, Neptune, Ra, Medusa and Thor—representing the unique attributes of each of the company's product lines as follows:
Omni-Flute and Mercury. In Roman mythology, Mercury was known as a swift messenger and god of trade, profit and commerce. Omni-Flute, just like Mercury, delivers. This cost-effective fluted polypropylene sheet has been engineered specifically for creating signage and short-term graphic display designs. Omni-Flute features a treated, smooth surface for mounting and printing applications. It is geometrically square and color consistent.
Fome-Cor and Neptune. Illustrations of the Roman god of the sea often depict Neptune rising out of the depths of the ocean. This concept of "depth" is exemplified by Fome-Cor board because it is uniquely embossable; varying surface levels can be die-cut into the board to produce 3-D effects as well as closed edges that will stay closed permanently. Fome-Cor board consists of extruded polystyrene foam bonded between various high-quality papers that feature a smooth surface for direct digital- and screen-printing applications or mounting.
Sintra and Ra. Egyptian sun-god Ra personifies the attributes of Sintra Bright White, which is print-optimized to feature the brightest, whitest surface available to produce eye-popping graphics in both direct screen-printing and digital-printing applications. Sintra is a lightweight-yet-rigid expanded PVC material that cuts cleanly, can be direct printed, and accepts vinyl graphics.
Gatorfoam and Medusa. In Greek mythology, Medusa possessed the power to turn into stone anyone that she gazed upon. Similarly, that kind of rigidity is possessed by Gatorfoam, the original heavy-duty graphic display board that consists of polystyrene foam bonded between two layers of wood-fiber veneer laminate. This unique construction makes Gatorfoam rigid yet lightweight and warp-resistant; its surface also is exceptionally smooth and strong.
Dibond and Thor. Thor, the strongest of the Norse gods, was believed to control thunder, with lightning flashing whenever he threw his hammer. That kind of superior strength is exemplified by Dibond, a rigid, durable aluminum composite material consisting of two pre-painted sheets of .012-inch aluminum bonded to a solid polyethylene core. Dibond, the flattest panel on the market, offers a superior surface for mounting vinyl graphics and displaying digital and screen-printed graphics.
"When ISA show-goers complete this knowledge quest, they'll have gathered a colorful take-home sample pack of our product lines," said Masters. "And, as a reward for completing this challenging trek, they'll be entered into our drawing for a brand-new TAGHeuer watch."
