At GRAPH EXPO, Standard Finishing Systems will premier the Standard Horizon CABS 6000 perfect binding system. The CABS 6000 includes the MG-600 Gatherer, SB-17 17-clamp Perfect Binder, and HT-110 Three-knife Trimmer. This in-line system can produce up to 6,000 books/hour. Each component includes an icon-based 10.4-inch color touch screen for automated end-to-end setup, and includes memory for 200 jobs.
Up to six MG-600 Gatherers can be placed in-line for a total of 36 stations feeding up to 64-page signatures ranging from 5.83x4.14 inches to 15.15x10.8 inches. Other features include an in-line stacker for stand alone gathering and advanced quality control features such as CCD cameras, thickness detector and weight checker.
The SB-17 Perfect Binder allows for changeover from EVA to PUR adhesive with interchangeable tanks and book thicknesses from .08 to 2 inches. Other features include CCD cameras on the cover feeder, ability to load covers on the fly, two milling stations, automated in-line cover scoring, gauze feeding for hard cover book blocks, digital caliper that measures book size and thickness and transfers settings for automated setup, and a weight checking system.
The HT-110 Three-knife Trimmer will accept a lift size up to 3.9 inches and produces trimmed books from 5.71x4.05 inches to 14.4x11.81 inches. The CABS 6000 is compatible with Horizon’s pXnet bindery management system.
It is equipped with quick-change EVA and PUR glue tanks that slide out on rails to a wheeled trolley. It is also automated from with color touchscreen control. The entire line can be setup in 10 minutes, as precision servomotors provide automated setup of in-feed, clamps, milling plates, glue cut-off, side-glue, cover station, scoring, cover registration, nipper table, and delivery.
