Plastic spiral binding is fast becoming the mechanical binding of choice in North America. Gateway Bookbinding has been manufacturing Plastikoil binding for almost 50 years. Although there have been advancements towards automation with larger equipment systems for the higher volume trade bindery or in-plant (for example Gateway’s Plastikoil Concept QS Interline systems for in-house coil manufacturing and automated insertion), there was nothing on the market geared for the new and rapidly expanding digital print market. The Koilmatic Auto Inserter fills that void—the first fully electric tabletop automatic coil inserter.
The Koilmatic is very easy to setup and changeover from job to job—no tools are required. Books are placed vertically into the machine, allowing tabs or wider covers to be accommodated. It’s a low maintenance design, eliminating the need for expensive service contracts. Foot pedal actuated, the operator is able to position and remove bound books quickly and efficiently—with production speeds up to 450 books per hour.
And the Koilmatic is affordable. It’s almost half the price of the more industrial automatic inserters that have been available in the market up until this point.
