Epson America (Booth 617) is unveiling the Stylus Pro 4900, a 17-inch desktop printer leveraging Epson’s latest engineering technology, featured in the 24-inch Epson Stylus Pro 7900 and 44-inch Epson Stylus Pro 9900. The Stylus Pro 4900 combines the precision of Epson’s MicroPiezo TFP print heads with the performance of Epson UltraChrome HDR ink, including auto-sharing matte and photo black inks.
Utilizing 10 colors–-including orange and green--UltraChrome HDR ink produces the widest color gamut ever from a Stylus Pro printer. Combined with Epson AccuPhoto HDR screening technology, this ink dramatically raises the level of print quality. The MicroPiezo TFP print head is capable of producing high quality prints at fast speeds. Epson’s latest ink-repelling coating and auto nozzle verification technologies virtually eliminate clogged nozzles.
The Stylus Pro 4900 includes automatic switching between roll and cut-sheet feeders, as well as a high-capacity cut-sheet paper tray that holds 8.5x11” up to 17x24” sized sheets. The printer also uses 11 individual high-capacity ink cartridges up to 200 ml.
The Stylus Pro 4900 is available in three configurations – the base model for photography, a graphic design edition, and a proofing edition with optional spectrophotometer. Developed in partnership with X-Rite, the optional Epson SpectroProofer is a high-performance, in-line spectrophotometer that, when driven by the latest front-end RIPs, can automate any color management process in commercial or flexographic proofing workflows.
