Screen (USA) (Booth 1637) is unveiling Flexo Dot 4800, a halftone dot developed specifically for the flexo and letterpress markets.Flexo Dot 4800 makes the most of Screen’s 4,800 dpi resolution imaging technology, generating extremely small, precise halftone dots to create the output image. The 4,800 dpi high-resolution dots are significantly smaller than the dots utilized in 2,400 dpi printing.
Flexo Dot 4800 features a reinforcement pattern for the halftone dots forming the base of the image. Applying a reinforcing pattern to the base halftone dot shape produces more consistent relief patterns in the highlight areas. This enables natural-looking gradations that rival offset printing, even in the extreme highlight areas, while maintaining the superior density that printing companies expect from flexo printing. At the same time, Flexo Dot 4800 reduces artifacts in diagonal lines and curves, and dramatically improves the reproduction of fine lines.
The Screen PlateRite FX870II and PlateRite FX1524 thermal CTP recorders for the flexo/letterpress industries can use Flexo Dot 4800. Both models offer a maximum output resolution of 4,800 dpi as standard.
