Lake Image Systems (Booth 4307) is introducing its Discovery Suite, which provides printers, converters and mailers with assurance that their printed product is 100 percent accurate.
Discovery consists of three basic components: Discovery Web Monitor—a high-definition, full-featured video viewing station displaying the full web width, with user-definable magnifications of critical areas; Discovery PQ—a camera/software system with all the tools necessary to automatically and continuously inspect web or sheetfed offset, narrow-web label, ticket and security printing, as well as high-speed mailing applications; and Discovery Multiscan—a simple and flexible camera/software system verifying printed data such as addresses, mailing bar codes, and other information by comparing them against a database or known images. These components can be implemented separately or in any combination. The complete suite is known as Discovery Revolution.
The Discovery components can monitor print webs at speeds in excess of 1,000 fpm, checking across the entire web. Discovery works equally well on sheetfed offset, flexo, digital, toner and inkjet presses, and on difficult substrates such as films, foils and flexible packaging. It includes complete reporting, including archived images of the printed material, if desired.
Discovery is a fully automated hardware/software solution combining print quality and data integrity solution. The entire suite runs on a single PC. Operator controls and information displays are straightforward and easy to use. Print or data errors are flagged for operator intervention or further inspection by quality control personnel. False positives, which plague most systems doing detailed inspection, are dramatically reduced in Discovery. A robust reporting system is included, and every image printed can be archived if necessary.
