Synaps UV Product From Agfa Graphics: Agfa announced the North American introduction of Synaps UV, an environmentally-friendly, premium waterproof substrate designed for indoor and outdoor sign & display applications using UV-curable inks. Synaps UV will be on display at Agfa's booth (#4153) during ISA's Sign Expo 2011 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, April 28-30.

Synaps UV offers a high gloss finish, bright color reproduction, and high tear and chemical resistance. This synthetic media is suitable for high resolution printing, provides stability and presents graphics in their truest form.

As such, Synaps UV is ideal for POS displays like banners, flags, posters and event announcements; POP materials such as window graphics, displays and wobblers; and signage such as posters, billboards, and more. There is virtually no discoloration or deterioration under normal conditions or under extended exposure to environmental UV light. Synaps UV can also be easily cut using various methods including guillotine- or die-cutting and lasers.

Synaps UV media is recyclable. Printed and non-printed Synaps UV paper is 100 percent re-usable in the production process of new Synaps UV material. It is non-toxic and no ecologically harmful components are used to produce it.

"Agfa has a long tradition of environmental awareness and sustainability practices," said Larry Salomon, vice president of wide format display graphics. "Synaps UV is a premium recyclable substrate that is uniform throughout, is rigid in roll form so it doesn't have play, plus it offers a high gloss, smooth finish with a high degree of printability."

Synaps UV is designed for use with UV-curable inks in offset, screen, flexo, gravure and inkjet printing, and suitable for high resolution screening, including stochastic screening. Its glossy, white finish offers high tear resistance and high chemical resistance. KBA Rapida 105 Perfecting Press Product From KBA North America: The medium-format Rapida 105 was unveiled by KBA in November 2011. This new sheetfed offset press has significant differences to previous generations.

The Rapida 105 is based on the same technological platform as the high-tech Rapida 106 that, with a maximum output of up to 20,000 sph and its makeready times, defines the benchmarks in medium format. KBA Rapida 106 Upgrades Product From KBA North America: The makeready world champion press KBA Rapida 106 now offers an optional package, which raises the maximum production speed to 20,000 sph in straight printing and 18,000 sph in perfecting mode.

The KBA flagship in medium-format is available in a 12-unit configuration for four-color print and inline coating on both sides of the sheet. Among the many innovations incorporated into this already highly automated press, particular mention should be made of the new coater tower with simultaneous form changing (DriveTronic SFC), automated anilox roller exchange with AniloxLoader, the further optimized AirTronic delivery for exact pile formation at even the highest speeds, new modules for online and inline quality monitoring and control, and a new ErgoTronic console with wall screen, as on the large-format presses.
