The Printing Industry Center at RIT has announced the release of the final research monographs from the 2010-2011 research agenda to the public.

Drop2Print: A Model for PDF-Specifications to Drive the Discovery of Print Service Providers

The primary goal of this research was to create an easy-to-use tool—a desktop application linked to an online database—that allows users to search for a print service provider based on the technical specifications of their PDF document. The report provides a step-by-step look at the methodology behind the creation of the application, the software development process, and information on how to use the application, and is available for download as a PDF from print.rit.edu/research/show/157.

A Statistical Analysis of the Printing Standards Audit (PSA) Press Sheet Database

The PSA database consists of 35 press sheets submitted for ISO 12647-2 printing conformance assessment during 2010. This research analyzed the database using various assessment methods and, where possible, provides comparisons to the PSO database. Different topics of study were investigated, including inter-instrument agreement, spatial and sheet-to-sheet variation, substrate color, TVI, tone reproduction limits, and near-neutral variation, among others. Statistical Analyses of the IDEAlliance G7 Master Printer Database

IDEAlliance’s G7 is a calibration method developed to support the GRACoL specification. G7 Master Printers are qualified by IDEAlliance based on their ability to print to G7 standards. The IDEAlliance database consists of 85 P2P25x characterization data sets submitted by 85 G7 Master Printers. This research assessed the data sets with respect to variations of paper white, process ink and overprint solids, and grey reproduction conformance.  The full report is available for download as a PDF from print.rit.edu/research/show/167.
