Swiss manufacturer Polytype has been making printing equipment with uncompromising engineering quality for over 100 years. Polytype's Virtu Business Unit is no exception producing high quality digital flatbed and roll to roll UV printers.
The Virtu RR50 5 meter wide UV roll-to-roll printer produces very high quality 6 color prints at up to 3,340 sqft/hr. The RR50 prints 5 meters wide on roll materials up to 1,653 pounds. There is a multiple roll option capable of printing three rolls simultaneously. The RR50 weighs 22,000 pounds, 6,000 pounds heavier than the nearest competitor and twice as heavy as other 5 meter wide printers.
The design of the RR50 eliminates all flex in its media drive system and frame. The massive media drive rollers weigh over 3,000 pounds each and eliminate all roller flex. The massive machine frame designed to hold the large drive rollers has no flex as well. The RR50's direct drive torque motors turn the heavy drive rollers very accurately with fast acceleration resulting in perfect positioning of roll material at high print speeds. RR50's drive system is designed without compromise.
Adding a heavy carriage beam fitted with an extremely accurate linear drive motor to transport the print head and you have the RR50 platform. A platform with zero vibration or flex resulting in very accurate dot placement required for high quality printing at high speeds.
Finally, the RR50 incorporates unique water cooled UV lamps providing high light output to completely cure UV ink at high print speeds and dramatically extended UV bulb life. The same water chiller system is used to cool the RR50's vacuum print platen allow the use of very thin heat sensitive roll material.
