Diamond 16 MAX+

Diamond 16 MAX+

Diamond 16 MAX+ Product Image

The Diamond 16 MAX+ is aimed at printing operations that print magazines, pamphlets, specialty publications and newspaper advertising inserts. It produces 16-page signatures at speeds up to 1,800 feet per minute. Designed for short makereadies and low paper waste, the Diamond 16 MAX+ is available with a number of automated features up to and including full automation.

The Diamond 16 MAX+ features the award-winning ergonomic design concept introduced with the Diamond V3000 Series sheetfed presses. The press styling incorporates gentle, rounded forms, while simultaneously achieving functional ease and outstanding safety. For enhanced safety, three colored light-emitting diodes (LEDs) run along the side of the printing units. A series of multicolored lights and flashing patterns instantly display printing unit status.

The Diamond 16 MAX+S has a maximum web width of 38 inches and cutoffs of 21.5 inches, 22.75 inches, 23.56 inches and 24.6 inches. The Diamond 16 MAX+S comes standard with MAX SimulChanger, Mitsubishi’s fully automated system for high-speed, simultaneous plate changing. The optional MAX Color Navigator simplifies color adjustment by enabling automatic fine-tuning of colors, a process that conventionally demands complex control of multiple color ink units. Users can outfit the press with MAX Diamond Eye, an inline quality controller that compares prepress image data with the actual image data. The MAX Pre-Cut printing startup control function automates cutoff alignment.

The Diamond 16 MAX+M offers 22.75-inch and 24.33-inch cutoffs. The Diamond 16 MAX+M utilizes metal-backed blankets and mini-gap technology in both the plate and blanket cylinders. Mini-gap and metal-backed technologies reduce shock at the cylinder gap and minimize the non-printing length. The mini-gap design also virtually eliminates any gap streaks that can occur with a standard web press.

I-Tech Closed Loop Sidelay Control

Product From Imaging Technologies

Imaging Technologies (Booth 2937) is spotlighting its automated, closed loop, sidelay control for in-line and off-line web packaging slitter stations. The I-Tech (Imaging Technologies) sidelay control can measure and control on-web and off-line slitter/rewinders running at 4,000 fpm on rolls of various substrates and unlimited width. It makes use of in-image technology with a "Nano" mark that can be printed in most colors, including yellow. I-Tech's high-resolution camera captures the proprietary small mark in the packaging image and automatically adjusts the sidelay of the web in a closed loop fashion to align with the stationary slitters. Using an in-image solution replaces technology that relies on older edge detection sensors. The I-Tech sidelay control has built-in statistical process control capabilities for end-user process control refinement and verification.
