The HOF-400 from Standard Finishing Systems (Booth 1244) is the latest in Horizon’s line of versatile high-speed sheet feeders. The HOF-400 can be connected to the SPF-200 Series Bookletmaker and the StitchLiner 5500 for saddle stitching of digitally printed output at speeds up to 45,000 sheets per hour. The modular system can be configured to fit various customer requirements. Variable page count production is possible with the standard mark reader, which the operator can quickly change between top and bottom reading for different applications. C.P. Bourg’s BSF Sheet Feeder is a near-line sheet feeder that automatically transfers paper from different manufacturers’ printers and stack carts while maintaining integrity of collated sets for production finishing. It features an air-table design that allows the operator to load and center stacks of collated sets from stack carts common to Canon, HP Indigo, Kodak NEXPRESS, Océ, Xerox, and other manufacturer’s printers. The unit is equipped with two feeding compartments that can accept pile heights of 20" for primary content and up to 6.3" for covers or other content, and it can feed up to 15,000 sheets/hour to various C.P. Bourg finishing modules. It detects double sheets or missed sheets from both compartments, and detects when either stack bin is empty. Paper sizes can range from finished products smaller than a CD-ROM booklet to 14.33x22.5". Optional barcode scanning with a flexible positioning scanner allows users to read a bar code placed anywhere on the sheet.

Rena Systems has unveiled the EasyFeed 120 and EasyFeed 200 (pictured) friction feeders, featuring Bow Separation Technology. Unlike traditional nip point that places a single separator over feed belts to strip material away from the stack, these feeders use two or more repositionable separators placed between the feed belts. By moving these separators a bow is formed in the material, reducing friction and increasing rigidity. This helps control marring and double feeding while improving feed consistency. Straight-Thru Material Guides extend below the material stack and feed belts and run straight through the exit section for registration/material handling. Moveable Full-Length Feed Belts keep consistent pressure on the piece to maximize smoothness.
