Meyer M Weiss Senior Vice President of JP/Gould Specialty Papers division of Gould Paper Corporation announced the introduction of a High Gloss Ink Jet Paper specifically designed for the label industry. The product is manufactured by Felix Schoeller Digital Media of Osnabrück Germany and is named Jet-Speed Chromegloss 95, and is available for sale globally.

According to Weiss this product was conceived, designed and developed in cooperation with Felix Schoeller and the entire process from the concept stage to market introduction took only 120 days. The product design is based on the industry’s leading Nano (microporous) technology platform from Felix Schoeller. In testing the product compared very favourably to the cast coated ink jet products now available in the marketplace.

James Walsh Senior Vice President of Felix Schoeller stated “this is a natural extension of our market leading global offering of digital imaging media and we are extremely happy to be partnering with JP/Gould in the promotion and sales of this product.”

The product is designed to work on the industrial desktop label printers, production ink jet printers and label presses being introduced using various water based ink jet technologies. The product is bright white 95 gsm, instant dry, water resistant, as well as dye and pigment compatible. The product is now being tested by most of the printer OEM’s and is being qualified for use in their printers. Profiles should be available as one of the printer settings.

The product is being sold by the JP/Gould Specialty Paper Group and will be available through most pressure sensitive laminators. The product will be on display in several booths at Label Expo 2012 being held in Chicago September 11-13.

Personal Tag Substrate

Product From Badgetec

Badgetec has introduced new personal tags that serve as wearable promotions and displays. Being laser and inkjet printable on the front & back, the face of the tag carries the display message while the back serves as a marketing vehicle. They have proven successful since being introduced in 2011. When distributed to people at events, wearable tags are a powerful marketing medium that produces strong personal links to the event. As individuals receive their tag, they instinctively read the display message (front) and the back printing before wearing the tag. The back serves as an excellent marketing medium to enhance brand recognition as well as providing QR Codes & vital contact data. The new personal tags are inexpensive die-cut cardstock and attach by a new clothing-safe plastic clip (less than a dime). Essentially, the event sponsor (advertisers) has inserted the brand, Smartphone QR Codes, phone numbers and web URLs directly into the hands of prospected customers!
