PEPIO Offset Gravure Press

PEPIO Offset Gravure Press

PEPIO Offset Gravure Press Product Image

Komori Corporation announced the launch of the PEPIO offset gravure press line, designed for the manufacture of printed electronics (PE). With its long history in the design and development of web and sheetfed offset presses, as well as high precision intaglio printing technologies for the securities and currency markets, the design of specialty gravure presses for the PE market was the next logical addition to the Komori press line.

The new machines will be introduced at the Touch Taiwan exhibition to be held August 29-31, 2012, in Taipei, Taiwan. On display will be the PEPIO F20 flatbed gravure offset press and the PEPIO R20, roll-to-roll offset gravure press.

The PEPIO F20 is a flatbed gravure offset press designed for the manufacture of touch panels, a market that is forecast to grow in the future. The target substrates are glass and film.

The PEPIO F20 is a high precision printing press that integrates Komori’s latest technologies, and can print on entirely new printing materials such as glass and film. With this state of the art technology, the PEPIO F20 produces, through gravure offset printing, a very fine line width of L/S=30/30 μm or less, which meets the narrow bezel requirement of projected capacitive touch panels. This achievement, which until now could not be produced through the printing process, will be a major contribution to the development of printed electronics.

The specifications for the highly productive PEPIO F20 are as follows:

Printing speed: 0.5 – 20 m/min

Substrate size: 250 x 250 mm – 520 x 600 mm

Substrate thickness: 45 – 250 μm (Option : 3 mm MAX.)

Maximum printing area: 500 x 580 mm

The PEPIO R20 is a continuous roll-to-roll gravure offset press aimed at next-generation high productivity in printing fine lines. The target substrate is roll film.

While the target market of this press is the same as that of the PEPIO F20, it enables printing of fine lines with a line width of 50 μm or less with high productivity. Because the PEPIO R20 is a roll-to-roll type machine that prints on film, it uses the Komori Smart Alignment System and a center position control system to ensure high-precision position alignment.

The specifications for the PEPIO R20 include:

Printing speed: 1 – 10 m/min

Substrate width: 250 x 250 mm

Substrate thickness: 45 – 200 μm

Maximum printing area: 500 x 610 mm

“First and foremost, Komori is an expert in precision manufacturing, and the entry into the printed electronics marketplace reinforces Komori’s message at drupa 2012 that we are expanding into new markets,” says Kosh Miyao, President and COO of Komori America Corporation. “We are very excited about this new product offering, not only for the opportunities for business growth it provides, but as further evidence of Komori’s commitment to the advancement of printing technology.”

KBA Rapida 164

Product From KBA North America

At drupa last year, KBA celebrated the official launch of the Rapida 145, its latest series of high-performance large-format presses in format VI (106 x 145 cm).

In the meantime, almost 40 customers have taken delivery of the new presses, which are engineered for production speeds up to 17,000 sph. At the beginning of 2013, but without pomp or a special welcome party, the Rapida 145 was joined by its almost identically equipped and automated “big sister”, the KBA Rapida 164 in format VIIb (120.5 x 164 cm). With a maximum production speed of 15,000 sph (with high-speed package) and extremely short makeready times, KBA has once again redefined the yardstick for this format class. The new Rapida 164 supersedes the vastly successful Rapida 162 and 162a series, which could rightly be described as institutions on the book printing and packaging markets. They were first presented in 1995 and had received several technical makeovers over the intervening years. With the Rapida 164, practically all the automation solutions and highlights of the medium-format makeready world champion Rapida 106 are now also available in format VII.

KBA Rapida 105 Perfecting Press

Product From KBA North America

The medium-format Rapida 105 was unveiled by KBA in November 2011. This new sheetfed offset press has significant differences to previous generations.

The Rapida 105 is based on the same technological platform as the high-tech Rapida 106 that, with a maximum output of up to 20,000 sph and its makeready times, defines the benchmarks in medium format. Its intelligent automation concept, various configurations and optional features available combined with a maximum production speed of 16,000sph (17,000sph with the HS speed enhancement package), the internationally successful Rapida 105 targets printers with limited in-vestment budgets. Since Drupa 2012, the new press has been available and sold as a long perfecting press for 4-back-4 and 5-back-5 printing. Its sheet travel systems and maximum sheet format makes its superior to presses from other well-known manufacturers, who still print with single-size impression cylinders without washing units.

BaumPrint 18 Press

Baum (Booth 3200) will be running the BaumPrint 18 Press live in the BAUM booth and new features will be highlighted during the show. The BaumPrint 18 press will be printing live jobs in and our BaumPrint 18 automated press line. BAUM will also be highlighting our latest additions to the extensive line of BAUM hopper loaders and material handling equipment solutions.

Speedmaster XL 106

Product From Heidelberg USA

At drupa 2012, Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) unveiled the Speedmaster XL 106 - the new flagship of its Peak Performance Class. Since the Speedmaster XL 105 made its debut at drupa 2004, it has been setting standards in terms of production speed, print stability, and output and has become a market success, with over 1,200 units installed worldwide. As the logical successor to the Speedmaster XL 105, the Speedmaster XL 106 represents a new performance class for industrial commercial, label, and packaging printing. Operating at speeds of up to 18,000 sheets per hour in both straight and perfecting modes, it achieves exceptional productivity and processes a wide range of substrates up to 1.0 mm (0.039 in) thick (in perfecting mode, up to 0.8 mm/0.031 in thick). Thanks to the larger 75 x 106 cm (29.53 x 41.73 in) sheet format, the maximum print format of 74 x 105 cm (29.13 x 41.34 in) can now be utilized in its entirety, which means a larger punching margin for packaging printers and more repeats per sheet for web-to-print gang forms. The Speedmaster XL 106 achieves new dimensions in productivity thanks to extremely straightforward operation and the interplay between preset functions, ink presettings, simultaneous plate changing with AutoPlate XL, and Prinect Inpress Control. All this makes the press another 20 to 30 percent more productive than the Speedmaster XL 105. Depending on the particular job structure, it can produce between 60 and 80 million sheets a year with ease and change between 90,000 and 100,000 printing plates a year on an eight-color press.

Product From KBA North America

The makeready world champion press KBA Rapida 106 now offers an optional package, which raises the maximum production speed to 20,000 sph in straight printing and 18,000 sph in perfecting mode.

The KBA flagship in medium-format is available in a 12-unit configuration for four-color print and inline coating on both sides of the sheet. Among the many innovations incorporated into this already highly automated press, particular mention should be made of the new coater tower with simultaneous form changing (DriveTronic SFC), automated anilox roller exchange with AniloxLoader, the further optimized AirTronic delivery for exact pile formation at even the highest speeds, new modules for online and inline quality monitoring and control, and a new ErgoTronic console with wall screen, as on the large-format presses.

KBA Rapida 145
