Crawford Technologies (Booth 960) is demonstrating end-to-end conversion and control for migration of legacy applications to production color ink jet platforms at PRINT 13. The CrawfordTech Prepress solution is a robust transform/document re-engineering solution family whose power has just been increased by the addition of a new GUI based application module. PRO Designer for Operations Express executes the conversion and color control changes needed when a B&W/cut sheet application goes to color/plain paper/roll-fed handling factors such as logos, integrity barcodes, marketing messaging, terms and conditions, etc. PRO Designer for Operations Express lowers barriers to conversion projects by enabling visual point-and-click modifications, eliminating the need to touch code or configuration files.
Legacy applications can be transformed as needed, transactional data can be reformatted to drive customer satisfaction and revenue enhancement initiatives, full color resources can be imposed to replace offset forms and even pre-printed envelopes, ‘onserts’ can replace inserts, font colors can be changed to highlight negative (or other exceptional) balances, etc.
In addition, conversion is compressed to an efficient ‘One-Step’ process by combining it with output conversion at the front of the process eliminating the need to RIP at the server. Crawford Technologies is doing this with two additions to the transform/document re-engineering product family. To drive the Versamark/Kodak printers more effectively, CrawfordTech now provides an IJPDS Driver as an output option across its transform product line. In a second product announcement, the CrawfordTech VIPP interpreter will pipe VIPP formatted documents to production engines in their native control language.
