The C.P. Bourg BB3202 Perfect Binder, in Booth 1912, is a fully automatic in-line/off-line EVA or PUR binder designed to produce softcover books on demand from single or multiple digital, analog or mixed workflows. The BB3202 comprises a modified Bourg BB3002 single clamp binder and Bourg BBC transfer module to compile sheets or single-fold signatures and transfer stacks and covers into the binder.
A BB3202 can be docked various ways—to a digital press; to a Bourg BSF Sheet Feeder to accept collated content and covers from multiple off-line presses; or to a Bourg dual-mode BSFEx feeder to produce books from both in-line press and multiple off-line workflows. Optional modules permit cutting and folding sheets into stacked signatures, and final 3-sided trimming. Book blocks can be manually-inserted without interrupting in-line job setups.
The BB3202 automatically gauges spine thickness, and sets jogging, power milling and notching, gluing, scoring and suction cover-feeding accordingly under program control; and can make 13 positive or negative creases and produce winged book jackets. It can produce 350 unique books per hour from printed sheets up to 317 x 384 mm (12.5x15.125") and cover sheets up to 710 x 395 mm (27.95x15.55"). Finished books in sizes from 100 x 100 mm to 385 x 320 mm (15.125x12.6") and with spines from one to 60mm (2.36") plus cover are stacked for removal and trimming off-line, or automatically routed for optional three-sided trimming.
A barcode option incorporates sensors to ensure accurate cover-to-content matching. Job integrity checks and communication with upstream and downstream components enable process tracking and data analysis.
