The Océ Arizona 660 GT flatbed printer is a six-channel printer utilizing UV curable inks and a stationary table design that holds the rigid substrate in place during printing. This results in a highly accurate, consistent printing method that delivers exceptional image quality and application versatility by being able to print onto irregularly shaped items without a jig. The use of small 6 picoliter ink drop sizes up to 42 picoliter drop sizes enables the printer to produce near-photographic detail and smoothness plus saturated solids all without requiring light colored cyan and magenta inks. This allows for a significant reduction in ink usage of 30-50% compared to a fixed dot size printer using light colored inks.
The stationary table design, which supports full-bleed printing on up to 4-foot by 8-foot by 2-inch thick substrates, also requires a significantly smaller footprint than a conventional hybrid system that would instead move the substrate through the printer and require tables to support the media on either end.
The Océ Arizona 660 GT can also be configured to print on roll media with the addition of the Roll Media Option. Roll printing does not obstruct the flatbed table allowing for uninterrupted setup of the next flatbed job while the roll is being printed. As a result, switching between roll and flatbed printing can be done in an instant.
The printer is very productive with speeds up to twenty 4-foot by 8-foot boards per hour of sellable output and the two additional ink channels can be configured for white ink and spot varnish effects or, higher quality CMYK printing at production speeds through the use of extra cyan and magenta. This unique ink configuration is referred to as CM2 (C- M-Squared).
